Death Metal is the name of the game here. Pure, yet subtle crushing brutality. At the very first note you could easily be mistaking HERETIC SOUL for a pilar of the Polish extreme metal scene as they actually do fit perfectly well amongst the elite of this incredible scene along with HATE and VADER... but this great band is actually from TURKEY! Showcasing an astonishing production with a killer mix thank to the now famous HERTZ studios in Poland... this new album is head and shoulders above everything the band has done before, more mature, tighter and definitely focised on great song writing, a long lost art in today's metal scene since everybody goes for the technical prowess over creating good memorable songs. HERETIC SOUL destroys everything on its path with its Nihilistic attitude.
Lords Of Metal [84/100]:
Heretic Soul hail from Turkey and play brutal, heavy death metal with a hint of deathcore every now and then. 'Nihilistic Attitude' is the second album by these four guys, after their debut 'Born Into This Plague' from 2010. Besides that, they have released a demo in 2006 and an EP ('Life Becomes Our Grave' in 2008.
On 'The Nihilistic Attitude', we get a big dose of Americana death worship, with influences like Monstrosity and especially old Morbid Angel, with some modern day deathcore and Behemoth added to the mix. I am not a big fan of that last band mentioned, but the combination of oldschool American death and 'newschool' Behemoth technodeath works out pretty well. The 'core' elements are used sparsely and give the music a nice dash of extra violence and aggression - that is not to say that the rest of the songs are not blasting energetically from the speakers, but I like the fact that the band have given themselves the option to switch weapons, sometimes within a song. Whether it is blunt force trauma they use to overwhelm you, or a precision slasher with surgical steel, it does not matter what mode they are in: Heretic Soul will hit you. Hard. Crushingly convincing.
