In the \nbeginning, as most widely evidenced by its 2005 debut album, “Dissected \nHumanity,” Anatomia seemed mostly content to simply follow the \ntime-tested blueprint of carnal demise first set to music by Autopsy. \nAlthough the band replicated this sound quite convincingly, which is no \neasy feat in and of itself, it soon began to adopt new elements that \nwould begin to define it as its own proper entity, beginning with its \nsophomore full-length, “Decaying in Obscurity.” Most notably, the subtle\n inclusion of somewhat sparse, deliberately-placed keyboard passages \nlent an increasingly moribund atmosphere to contrast with the \npredominate barrage of mauling riffs and gore-stricken vocals. On its \nthird opus, “Cranial Obsession,” hereby released under the auspices of \nNuclear War Now! Productions, Anatomia continues along this same \ntrajectory of development. Still present are the mid-tempo campaigns of \nmalignancy that have led to the comparisons with bands like Autopsy. \nHowever, these songs also demonstrate the band’s evolution into \nsomething more multi-dimensional with the inclusion of keyboard-backed, \nlower-tempo intros and interludes that bind the preceding and following \ndeath gallops, as in “Necrotic Incision”, and outros of a similar \nnature, as in “Fiend.” Even more strikingly, this album is characterized\n much more so than its predecessors by several significantly longer \nsongs of eight to fifteen minutes each that feature extended funeral \ndirges and bleak soundscapes of decay. The presence of these tracks \nintermingled with those of a higher pace reflect an expiring human \ncorporal vessel that alternates between the agonizing affliction of the \ndisease that consumes it and the soothing bliss of the inescapable, \nterminal fate that awaits it. This fate is effective sealed with what \nominously promises not to be the final hymn of expiration, “Recurrence.”\n Thus, with the multi-faceted expression of pain and despair that is \n“Cranial Obsession,” Anatomia has mastered the full spectrum of the \naural embodiment of death. \u003c\/p\u003e\u003cp\u003eTracklist:\u003cbr\u003e\n1.
